After the bad time I had with traffic on the Perimeter last year, I made a point of taking side roads on my final approach into Atlanta proper this time. In terms of avoiding traffic, it worked really well, though it did add a bit of time to the trip. And then I went and added even MORE time by repeatedly misunderstanding the directions and turning too early. I KNOW I'm not the only person who's bad about doing this, right? When there's one and only one exit coming up and I just need a reminder that it's coming, the whole "in blah blah feet turn right" thing works fine. But when there's five possible turns up in front of me, I can't see the street names for any of them, and the GPS expects me to know which of them is a specific number of feet away just by looking... well, that's when mistakes are made. LOTS of mistakes. Some of us need more specific instructions for this kind of thing. You know, the kind of people who TURN ON A TALKING BOX TO SHOUT DIRECTIONS TO THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.
