...aaand we're back, with more of that convention that doesn't really exist but we've all attended at one point or another! (click here if you don't know what I'm talking about)

Once again, I need to stress that ConCONcon pages are NOT based on any specific individual persons or events, but broad general trends I've observed over the years. And much line how I've observed that the desire to be a good staffer does not automatically translate into the actual ability to be one, so too with organizing meet-ups, photoshoots, parties, and other extra-curricular events. Having ambition and aiming for the sky and expecting the best out of everyone and all that nice stuff is, well, nice and all, but at some point an event organizer has to actually, you know, ORGANIZE SOMETHING. Actually make plans and work out technical details and stay in communication with people and make contingency plans and all that nitty gritty practical stuff. And, well, let's just say that people who come to events specifically to indulge in their love of fantasy and fictional worlds aren't always the best at doing Real World work.

I mean, Lord knows I'M the last person who should be lecturing other on how to organize events full of numerous people or make any kind of future plans in general... but at least I KNOW it. There's a reason you never see me trying to organize an official Conventional Wisdom fan meet-up at a real convention. Well, two reasons; the first being that I don't even thing I'D show up to something like that, let alone anyone else.

@ Blitz: Given that I live halfway around the world in any direction from you, I couldn't meet up without significant personal expenditure I would be reluctant to make. So I, obviously, wouldn't be able to attempt to show up for it.

@Darius - A significant percentage of the regular commenters appear to be from your part of the world, maybe that's where Blitz needs to hold next year's ConConCon Offical Conventional Wisdom fan meet-up?

@ Ed8: I'm a regular commenter, and there's only about half a dozen of us. Is there anyone else who lives in "the land down under"?

@Darius - I'm pretty sure Seros Senric does - I think he's said that previously (98.7% sure). Between you and him, that's a large percentage of such a small group. If you count by number of words commented (rather than percentage of people) it's probably over half

@ Ed8: Just because I and Seros both post long posts on occasion doesn't mean that we get to count as half the commenters on FOT!

Back when Project Wonderful was a thing, every ad was technically four ads that displayed in different regions: Canada, United States, Europe, and "Everywhere Else." Everywhere Else was almost always the cheapest region that actually got any traffic (Canada was usually the cheapest in general, but also the least seen) so for many years the largest English-speaking region I was advertising to was the Oceanic region, not North America.
